Yngve Gasoy-Romdal’s musical career began at the age of seven. He first played the violin and viola, then various wind instruments and the church organ, before beginning to sing in the church choir in Molde, Norway at age 12. By the age of 18, he went to Oslo to study at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Soon thereafter, he was onstage at the Det Norske Teatret in Oslo in the musical Alice Lengter Tilbake. It was followed by main roles in Ben Hur, Aladdin, Cinderella, West Side Story, and Les Miserables. His breakthrough in Germany was as Joe Gillis in the musical production of Sunset Boulevard. His musical repertoire includes: Mozart! in Vienna & Hamburg; Jekyll & Hyde in Cologne, Magdeburg and on tour; Jesus Christ Superstar in Vienna & Bad Hersfeld; Disney’s Die Schöne & das Biest (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast) in Oberhausen, Berlin & Magdeburg; and Into the Woods in Bolzano, Italy. In Tecklenburg he played in Evita, 3 Musketiere (3 Musketeers) and Marie Antoinette. He also starred in three productions of Cats in Tecklenburg, Switzerland and Original on Tour; Der Graf von Monte Christo (The Count of Monte Cristo) in Röttingen; as well as in Chess and Kiss Me Kate in Norway. Yngve has also played Raoul in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Liebe Stirbt Nie (Love Never Dies) in Hamburg, William of Baskerville in Der Name der Rose (The Name of the Rose) on the DomStufen in Erfurt, and as Edward Rochester in Jane Eyre, the Celebrant in Leonard Bernstein’s Mass, Jurij Zhivago in Doktor Schiwago (Doctor Zhivago), Count Fosco in the German premiere of Die Frau in Weiss (The Woman in White), Hermann Thimig/ Arne Strøm/ Gustav Vigeland in the world premiere of Letters from Ruth (Briefe von Ruth), as well as the title role of Vincent van Gogh in Austria. Yngve most recently played the role of Dr. Manette in A Tale of Two Cities at Theater Hof, Jurij Schiwago in Doktor Schiwago in Leipzig, and Larry Murphy in Musical Frühling in Gmunden's German-language Premiere of Dear Evan Hansen in Austria. Yngve Gasoy-Romdal has performed as a soloist in concerts around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Philippines, Moscow, at the Robert Stolz Gala in Graz, and in numerous concerts in Germany, Norway and Austria. He was a soloist in the Best of Musicals tour by Stage Entertainment, which was held in the largest arenas in Germany. He also performed in the successful concert series Vienna Musicals in Concert in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. His television appearances include a guest role in Kommissar Rex for Sat.1 and ORF 1. For ARD and ORF, Yngve appeared in the three-part series Liebe, Lüge, Leidenschaft alongside Maximilian Schell and Barbara Sukowa, as well as appeared in a guest role in the second season of Sabine! (ZDF). In Scandinavia, he worked for almost two years in the successful TV series Rederiet, and appeared in BBC London’s Atlantis and My Life in Film. Yngve can be heard in several albums, including the original premiere cast recording of Mozart!, the Bad Hersfelder live recording of Jesus Christ Superstar, the full live Gmundener production recording of Jane Eyre and Doktor Schiwago (Doctor Zhivago), the single Wenn das wirklich Liebe ist from the musical Bonifatius, and his solo musical album Listen to my Song. |
